Frequently Asked Questions

Who qualifies for a Habitat for Humanity home?

Families qualifying for a home fall within 30-65% of the median income in Hamilton County based on family size. Additionally, they must demonstrate a need for housing that cannot otherwise be obtained. Examples of inadequate housing include overcrowding, issues with infrastructure, malfunctioning heating, water, or electric systems,  and homes that do not meet maintenance standards. These families must have the ability to pay monthly mortgage payment on a new Habitat for Humanity home and are required to complete 200 hours of "sweat equity." Sweat equity consists of service hours for Hamilton County Habitat for Humanity.

What is the HSE H4H fundraising goal?

$8,000 each year

What is HSE H4H fundraising money used for?

The money that our campus chapter raises through fundraisers and events will ultimately be used to fund a panel build in the spring of each school year. During this build, students and members of the community will build the frames for a new Habitat for Humanity home within Hamilton County. Additional funds will be used throughout the year in order to purchase materials for activity days, events, and meetings.

What is expected of club members?

Our club members are expected to participate in at least 2 service opportunities per semester. This includes working events, running tables during lunches, or achieving a certain level of participation in fundraisers. It is expected that members are in attendance at all meetings and participate in fundraisers to help us meet our goal each year. Our goal will become a reality only through the efforts of our club members, and we want to ensure that all members are passionate about the cause.
